Jowl-Watering Dog Food

This ad caught my eye for its offer of all-natural, jowl-watering dog food. It is also confusing because I have been told in no uncertain terms that I should NOT eat cats -- even little kitten morsels. Yet, as Woody's Pet Food Deli says, pet health begins with real food.

I can feel Susan giving me that look. The one that tell me to go to my dog bed. I'd better hit "publish post" and go find a chew toy.

I must not eat cats.
I must not eat cats.
I must not eat cats.

Win the Future

I am officially irritated with President Obama's "Win the Future." As has been noted by many before me, the future is not something that can be won. The future just happens. We can only make the future a more pleasant time by behaving less badly.

It hasn't escaped my attention that Americans love to win (go Packers!). But "Win the Future" is as old and creaky as sputnik. Isn't it time for another metaphor?

To state the obvious: winning requires a loser.

Don't get me wrong, I love to win. There is nothing more enjoyable than running so fast that even the big dogs eat my dust. I don't give a kitty's butt for balls, sticks and other retrievable items. But it is hilarious to steal them from my comrades who live and die to possess them - and then I run like the wind just to make them scramble after me. And if there was just one bowl of dog food left in the world, I can't say that I would dole it out fairly.

But I am a dog.

Another Little Brown Dog

My friend Daughter Number Three says I remind her of the Grinch's dog Max. I will take that as a compliment as he is such a sweet fellow. I am not sure I would have been so amiable to Mr. Grinch. Then again, I put up with Susan when she gets in a state during weekend chores supervision.

Not that I have any chores other than keeping an eye on the varmints.

But I certainly can leap like Max! Especially during these long winter months when a mere mile is thought to be a walk by all concerned.
